Global 3D 2022 pilots announced

The Master and Expert pilot list is now published by Global 3D for 2022. There will be 12 pilots in the Masters class and 24 in the Experts class. The night flight pilot list not published yet, that list expected to be announced later.

Global 3D had to skip two years because of the pandemic, this is why the event is eagerly anticipated this year. The pilot lists look very interesting, although the official list has many alien portraits. These alien pilots forgot to send pictures of themselves, we tried our best to fill up the gaps - and we could. 

Asia is very significant at the Master pilots, whilst the Experts class is dominated by Germans.

Master pilots

CD aka Sakkarin Kongthon, Kenny Ko, Kan Poonnoi, Marik Wiehenstroth, Robin Lipke, Luca Pescante, Mariano Suare, Ryan Chiu will compete in the Masters class this year again, but we will miss the shows from Kyle Stacy, Tim Kostrotz, Peter Hsiao and Chatchawit Kamsawang as they aren't nominated this year. Rasmus Jakobsen will not compete among the Masters, because he will sit in (or in front of) the judge tent. 

Vava Boonmala, Henrik Clausen, Marius Gehle - they were the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd in Experts class last time - stepped up into Masters class. And finally Nick Maxwell will compete too against the Masters.

Expert pilots

This list changed a lot since the last Global 3D. There are fewer Asian pilots than last time. Wessel Haast (8^th in 2019), Lukas Vacek (12^th in 2019), Samuel Jensen (13^th in 2019), Pascal Lipke (14^th in 2019), Matthew de Wilde (19^th in 2019), Lilian Many (20^th in 2019) will compete again this year, but many names will not appear. We definitely will miss Rachel Plant as the only lady among the competing pilots last time, and sadly, there's not even one female pilot on the lists.

Instead of Aaron Cole, the United Kingdom will be represented by Ethan Williams and Callum Henson. 

There are two new countries on the list: South Korea and Hungary. There was no Hungarian pilot competing in this sort of event since 2011 when Jozsef Mojzes finished at the 22^nd place in Masters and Andrew Rozen got the 11^th place in Experts of the 3DMasters 2011. Krisztian Nagy will compete in Hungarian colours.

Sponsors and brands changed a lot since the last Global 3D. Align almost vanished off the list. Mikado is overwhelming the FBL and transmitter palettes, whilst YGE got much stronger against Hobbywing in ESC platform. Egodrift and Scorpion dominate the motor scene, Kontronik is less visible than last time. Only 4 pilots will use XNova motors: two among the Masters and two among the Experts.

The real competition on helicopter platform will be taken in place between SAB and XLPower as they will present the majority of the helicopters.
